Well, just as I warned last night I have some news…
Today 9:15am the courier arrived to my shop with a nice box of brand new equiptment, Canon EOS 50D and a BG-E2N Grip. I’ve been reading a LOT over the last few weeks and this camera is by far the best ‘bang for your buck’ on the market right now in my opinion at least.
Specs;
- 15.1 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor
- 6.3fps continuous shooting, max. burst 90 JPEGs with UDMA card
- DIGIC 4 processor
- ISO 100-3200, expandable to 12800
- 9-point wide area AF
- 3.0” Clear View VGA LCD with Live View mode & Face Detection Live AF
- Magnesium alloy body, with environmental protection
- EOS Integrated Cleaning System
- HDMI connection for high quality viewing and playback on a High Definition TV
- Full compatibility with Canon EF and EF-S lenses and EX-series Speedlites

So, I realise a lot of you will be asking why go from a 40D to a 50D they’re not THAT different.. Well, you’re wrong, they are! Firstly 15.1mp + Digic4 is a massive improvement alone, then there is the upgrade in the preview screen as well as the lens focus correction just to name a few.
I’m heading out shooting robins this weekend so stay tuned for some sample images and a more in depth review.

I like the 15.1 mp, the bigger viewscreen, and the new sensor chip technology..
lens correction might be a good idea as well..

I have a 40D and love it, but if I had the $$’s I would upgrade too! An extra 5 MegPix is 1/3more fun!

Yeah – I think I’ll probably have to upgrade to the 50D too.
